As mentioned here and here, it does look like feedburner is having problems today.

I have checked about half a dozen accounts I have for different clients and they all show as 0 subscribers today.

Hope they return to normal ASAP.

Yahoo plagiarizes content - does not give credit!!

I was shocked this morning to discover that Yahoo has plagiarized content from another website - in the exact order and have not credited the original website!!

They have copied the top 10 listings from the website which lists 100 hoaxes and no recognition / mention of the author. Yahoo has been guilty of plagiarizing content before: Yahoo India plagiarizes content from an Indian blogger

Here is the yahoo article on “Ten of the best April Fool’s Day hoaxes: US museum
yahoo_plagiarism_1

Original article: Top 100 April Fool’s Day Hoaxes of All Time

yahoo_plagiarism_2

This is shocking!! Published on Thu Mar 29, 4:19 AM ET - the yahoo article already has 728 votes giving an average rating of 4.5/5 - and yahoo is making loads of money through their content!! I think museumofhoaxes.com should sue Yahoo for copyright violation!

UPDATE: Jeremy Zawodny and Ian @ twopointtouch.com have replied that the the news was syndicated from AFP. Ian also gave the url: http://www.afp.com/english/home/ to contact AFP. I have contacted AFP for further clarification on why the original website was not credited.

Amazon launches Contextual Links!!

Amazon has just announced that it has released “Contextual Links” in Beta!

This was a long time coming…. They should have done this ages ago… anyway..

This means that you can insert a simple javascript code into your websites and it will automatically find relevant amazon products to link to on your website ANd you earn the commission!

Here are the 4 simple steps to follow:
1. Visit Associates Central->Build Links->Context Links
2. Specify the maximum number of links you’d like on each page
3. Optionally customize the display of the links with a couple clicks
4. Copy/paste the generated code into your pages

You have the following customization options:

  • the number of links on each page
  • which portion of the page will be linked
  • which Amazon product categories are linked
  • the matching of exact product names only
  • if preview windows will appear when your site visitors hover over the links, and the style of those windows
  • the options of single underline, dashed underline, and double underline link formats to indicate to your site visitors that they are Context Links
  • You may see some links here –> to Harry Potter dvds.

    Yahoo’s MyBlogLog bans Shoemoney

Yahoo’s MyBLogLog bans Shoemoney from MyBlogLog.com because Shoemoney has been pointing out various bugs in their system. And this all started because Yahoo posted about ‘Andy Beal’ being a spammer!

I am not really surprised by this. Yahoo is quite arrogant anyway and banning Shoemoney is not going to solve their problems. I think Yahoo should be grateful to Shoemoney for finding the bugs and for promoting MyBlogLog in the first place.

Lets face it, MyBlogLog does not provide any service which we cannot do without. We already get our stats via ‘Google Analytics’ (albiet several hours delayed - but quite detailed) and there is more than we have time to digest. MyBlogLog is a social site, made popular by the bloggers and such arrogant attitude towards the bloggers only mean that the bloggers will pull them down faster than their rise upwards.

I think Shoemoney would add ‘the demise of MyBlogLog’ to his prediction list of 2007!

Domains on the same IP - Link Vendor

Aaron mentioned today about Link Vendor offering a free tool to find domains on the same IP. The paid version of whois.sc’s reverse ip tool provides the same functionality.

Link Vendor’s tool gives junk/rubbish results after a while as displayed in the above pic.

Audi simply does not get it!

This morning I was having a look on audi.co.uk to see what the new Audi A3 looks like. Started configuring the A3 model and had a look at how the car would look in various colours.

    audi_interior_rhd

I know for a fact that the big manufacturers like Audi, Mercedes, BMW spend more than a couple of hundred thousand pounds to develop their websites. You would expect them to show a right-hand-drive car on audi.co.uk, but how they overlooked this detail is beyond me. It is really not “alright” to see a right hand drive interior image of the car. A quick check on BMW and Honda’s car configurator show RHD interior images.

Update: I checked other models on audi.co.uk’s website and all of their cars show left-hand drive interior images. I wonder what they were thinking when they signed off the acceptance / approval sheet from their web design company.
